APPENDIX A

Tea Sale Records—Ledgers and Daybooks Showing (and Not Showing) Tea Transactions during Prohibition

Only holdings with ledgers, daybooks, account books, waste books, or other accounts primarily detailing mercantile activity are considered here. Holdings are included even if they only cover part of the ban period. For the sake of counting merchants who sold tea, merchants with multiple ledgers, even if held at different archives, are counted as once. A single catalog holding with ledgers belonging to multiple merchants is counted once per merchant.
