Note on Abbreviations, Texts and Translations, and Transliteration
Abbreviations for ancient sources, dictio‑ naries, and encyclopedias follow those in the Oxford Classical Dictionary (OCD). Journal titles follow the format of L’année philologique; when not present there, they are given in full. Greek and Latin texts are drawn from the Loeb editions unless otherwise indicated; English translations are modeled on the Loeb editions, with changes.
The transliteration of Greek and non-Latin alphabets follows the rules established by the American Library Association and the Library of Congress, which are exemplified in the ALA-LC Romanization Tables.
