Einaudi Center Digital Publications

Einaudi Center Digital Publications is a project of the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. We publish books, essays, papers, pamphlets, and other works on international issues. These are available for free online reading on internet-connected computers, tablets, or phones. Some are also available for download or print.

Einaudi Center Digital Publications are meant to be topical and accessible, to be dual- or multi-language where possible, and to generate discussion and engagement in the academic community and beyond.

About the Einaudi Center

The Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies was established in 1961 as the Cornell Center for International Studies to enhance Cornell's research and teaching about the world's regions, countries, cultures, and languages. In 1990, it was named for its founding director, the political theorist Mario Einaudi.

Today, the center houses area studies and thematic programs; organizes speaker series, conferences, and events; provides grants and other support to faculty and students; and brings together scholars from many disciplines to address complex international issues.

About the platform

This site is built on Manifold, a free, open-source platform for publishing and reading networked, interactive, media-rich books online. It was developed by the University of Minnesota Press, GC Digital Scholarship Lab at the Graduate Center, CUNY, and Cast Iron Coding, with funds from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Manifold allows publishers and authors to embed videos, audio, documents, links, and other media in their texts, and allows readers to carry on conversations with the authors or one another. Publications are accessible to the public, and anyone who establishes an account may highlight and annotate text. The Einaudi Center reserves the right to remove offensive or inappropriate content, and to block users if necessary.
